Dear Chocolate Box Creator,

It's that time of year again, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing which request of mine you choose to bring to life. Seriously, thank you so much for creating something for me! I hope this letter will be in some way helpful to you in doing so.

To start with, I just want to say I love all the pairings I'm requesting, so please don't read too much into there being slightly less written below about any of them - it's a failure of creativity in prompting on my part, not a lack of enthusiasm. I'm not terribly concerned about relative rarity – while the idea of getting something infrequently written is super exciting, I'm also the kind of person who, when I really love a pairing, will love it hard enough to eagerly read a million and one versions of it and still want more. As a general rule, I'm fine with pretty much any other characters from the canon(s) filling in the background or being part of the action – with the caveat that I do not want unrequested non-canon romantic pairings to appear at all and any unrequested romantic canon pairings should not be central over the requested relationships.

I enjoy reading fic with tones ranging from fluffy happy moments of joy to angsty permanent character death and every gradation between, so go whichever direction you like best. Likewise, if I've requested both & and / versions of a relationship, I'd be equally happy with either. Speaking of romantic pairings, although I don't enjoy porn entirely without plot? I'm happy with anything from characters quietly realizing they have lovey-dovey feelings to them exploring those feelings in explicit-rated detail.

I have a great deal of admiration for people with artistic talent, and do greatly enjoy fanart. Despite it being considered gauche by some to say it, should any wild fan artists appear to read this post and ponder treating me, I'm totally open to that. I'm just not officially requesting it out of a desire to narrow down to only things I'd find equally satisfying as solo gifts and general cluelessness and burnout about what to specifically prompt for art-wise (I find fic prompts hard enough to do!)

I'll try to give some general likes and at least a few specific prompts for individual pairings in the subsections below. Feel free to riff on any individual idea from either likes or prompts, to combine several ideas that make sense together, or to go ahead and do something completely different if you already have your own ideas you want to explore instead - please don't feel too tied down to anything I'm suggesting! I like having prompts to write from for myself so I try to give them in turn, but I'm not remotely married to any of the ideas I've thrown out below.

If I've been unclear about anything or you have other questions, I should have this post set open to anonymous commenting. Thank you again - and here's hoping you have an awesome time doing this exchange!

Darkest Night 2017

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 06:06 am

Hello there, Darkest Night creator! While a lot of the time I do like fluffy, happy stories, sometimes I just really want something that goes to a much darker place, so I love that this is an exchange that exists. I'm really excited to see what you come up with!

I'll give you some more general likes and DNWs below, but first I want to address the theme of dark works in general. There's a pretty big range possible - everything from a bit of hurt/comfort in an unusually dark moment with a hopeful ending all the way to the world is destroyed, everyone is enslaved or dead, and everything is terrible forever. Understandably, some people have a strong preference one way or another, but personally, I will be perfectly happy with either end of that range or anything falling in between. So please don't feel obliged to either keep things hopeful or to go super dark if you have a strong preference in either direction or an idea that leans a specific way.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you have fun with the exchange!

Crossovering 2017

Sunday, July 30th, 2017 05:59 am

Hi there! I just have to start out by saying I'm very excited to see what you come up with, as crossovers and fusions are one of my very favorite things about fanfiction. I love seeing different sets of characters interact with each other, or characters having to figure out an unfamiliar setting's rules, or when a fusion really pulls out and highlights aspects of the characters via the new setting. Finally, and most importantly, thank you so much for creating something for me. I hope you have a lot of fun with this exchange! <3

I tried to give some notes on each canon and a few prompt type ideas for each combination, but please don't feel tied down if you've got something else in mind! Especially since I feel like a lot of my suggestions are either vague or obvious and I'm not sure my attempt to strike a balance between giving some direction but leaving room to maneuver is really coming off too well. Rest assured that if there's a little less here for any individual canon or combination, it's because I failed at prompts - not that I don't want something.

Dear Chocolate Box Creator,

First, and most importantly of all? Thanks so much for creating something for me! I'm really excited to see what you come up with. I hope something in here is helpful to spark an idea if you need it, but please don't feel tied down to any prompts or likes if you have something else in mind you think I'd enjoy.

I've listed most of the & and / pairings together because I enjoy similar dynamics underlying the relationship regardless of type, so don't be put off if any of those particular prompt sets seems more platonic or romantic and you want to write the opposite. With all the options in this huge tag set, I'm not asking for any pairings I wouldn't be thrilled to get – anything I wrote less details about is a failure on my part at coming up with prompts, not a lack of enthusiasm.

Again, thank you! <3 I hope you have a great Chocolate Box!
